A Flower in My Hair

Today I wear a fresh flower in my hair,

My sweet sweetheart is here,

For the city, he left me asunder,

How I lived without him, I wonder;

Red florets I wore on our wedding night,

The gems he put in my hair under the moonlight,

Are the pressed blooms under my pillow,

How I slept without him, do you know?

    1. Thank you Amy.
Matter of fact, this poem is inspired by the living situation of a woman who tied the knots in an arranged marriage.
The man her parents chose for her was already in a relationship with another woman.
Hence the husband was leaving her every month to spend time with his first love.
This is a sad state of affairs in many countries where arranged marriage still exists.
I try to live the agony of the newly wedded wife and I pen it with the ink of my heart.
      Much love

      1. OH my gosh! How sad and how awful! How my Heart goes out to this woman! Will a day ever come when the world does not look upon a woman as an object? Thank you for explaining this poem. No wonder I felt so much emotion. (((HUGS)))!

      2. It’s also sad that women do not know their legal rights or in some cases they are not educated.
Above all,Amy , you surely know that the worst enemy of a woman is another woman.
        Much love

      3. Anita, this world needs LOVE not jealously, not spite, not cheating, not hate, …. for all those are poisons. RESPECT for women from ALL ….. and respect for ALL from women … I don’t understand how some people can sleep at night …..
