A SAPLING

Anita Bacha

In her garden,

Grandma planted a seed,

She fenced around the earth,

Water it before the sun is high;

With her tender keep,

The seed grew into a sapling;

In the middle of the field,

Mom moved the sapling,

Fenced around the earth,

Water it before the sun is high;

With her tender keep,

The sapling grew into a tree;

In our field, there is a tree,

Giving us shade when the sun is high,

And, a thirst-quenching fruit with a seed,

That will grow into a sapling,

If like grandma and mom, we heed.

The Princess and the Crow is my first storybook for children, released by Austin Macauley Publishers London in March 2019. Two years later, I was inspired to write and published two other books - WAKASHIO, a storybook for children, and PINK MOON - AN ANTHOLOGY OF HAIKU POEMS. I love to write. I guess my writing has a special cliché of island 🌴 life, natural, unpretentious, and full of beauty.

    1. Thank you 🙏 Tanvir ! You are too kind. I have to confide with you that the sapling you see in the picture was planted by me earlier this year when I noticed that a seed I had planted had sprouted. I nursed the it, hence the sapling.
      My papa was a sugarcane planter. I believe planting comes to me naturally.
      Thank you for stopping by. Charming comments ❤️
