Seasons Flow – Haibun by Anita Bacha

The cruel wind blows,

Cold feet in thick woolen socks,

We lit the fireplace.

A slice of sun glides,

Under closed window curtains,

A cockerel crows.

Breakfast at the farm,

Fried eggs, bacon, and baked beans,

Tea with fresh cow’s milk.

Poppies in the field,

Glossy red under the sun,

Dancing in the breeze.

Barefoot on the grass,

Along rows of wildflowers,

We run happily.

Cut fragrant lilacs,

We borrow our neighbor’s vase,

Living room looks cute.

In the back garden,

Cheerful songs on drying line,

Birds poop on washing.

Under the plum tree,

Drinking home-made lemonade,

We sit side by side.

The sun is going down,

Grey clouds gather in the sky,

Quickly we move in.

Snuggly in our bed,

In the darkness of the night,

We hear the rainfalls.

Good morning,dear friends.

Thank you for viewing and reading my haibun. Hope you enjoyed it.

Anita Bacha.

Creative and inspirational writer of stories, poetry, and haikus I am also an addictive reader of novels, poetry, haiku, and children's storybooks. I am the author of SOUL POETRY a book of inspirational poems, verses, and quotes published by Partridge India (2015) The Maker of Miracles (2006) published in the USA by Dorrance Publishing and My Journey with God (2008) published under the banner of Sai Towers, India is the narration about my spiritual journey. My new poetry book INK Echo of life and love published by Éditions de L’Ocean Indien (2019) in Mauritius, my birth country is a collection of love poems extolling the feelings and desires of women. The Princess and the Crow is my first storybook for children, released by Austin Macauley Publishers London in March 2019. Two years later, I was inspired to write and published two other books - WAKASHIO, a storybook for children, and PINK MOON - AN ANTHOLOGY OF HAIKU POEMS. I love to write. I guess my writing has a special cliché of island 🌴 life, natural, unpretentious, and full of beauty.

    1. Hi David, there is one haiku about summer and the others are all written prose about the seasons of life. I could have opted for writing paragraphs but I chose to write senryus instead for that special kick.
I have read many haibuns before I read yours. They are in different styles yet the stories they depict are all beautiful.
Thank you for your visit, David. I greatly appreciate your response. Waiting to hear from other writers.
      Have a good day. Anita.

  1. Thanks Anita. I did have a giggle. Normally haibun, as David points out, is a prosimetric literary form combining prose and haiku. The range of haibun is broad and frequently includes autobiography, diary, essay, prose poem, short story and travel journal. Your interpretation is rendered in poetic license and I enjoyed. That is the way with poets always stretching boundaries.
