Decades ago, a young woman arrived in England to pursue academic and professional studies. She came from a tropical island in the Indian Ocean where the sun shines all through the two tropical seasons, summer and winter.
A white cotton ball fell on the tip of her nose ,one December morning while she hurried to Earlβs Court tube station on her way to Lincolnβs Inn at Chancery Lane.
That first ball was followed by uncontrollable number of snow flakes. She cried with joy! That young woman was me.
It was the first time I saw snow in my life!
Now I enjoy writing about snow and winter.

I hope you enjoy my winter haiku, my dear friends.
Thank you a million,Michael. I hope some day your photographic also writing talents bring you to visit a magical island in the Indian Oceanβ¦Mauritius πΉ
Ok letβs keep our fingers crossed π€
Have you read about the 𦀠an extinct bird that lived on the island ποΈ? History says that the whole colony of dodos were eaten by the Portuguese who settled on the island before the French.
Yes. It is an iconic species in ornithology and a warning of the impact humans have on the ecosystem. There were actually more than one species, but all were killed.
Thank you for your visit,David. Winter in London does not look the same as it did to the eyes of an eighteen years old in the 1960s.Now with pollution in the air the days are dark at dawn. Still I love the snow βοΈ It brings back beautiful memories of my first love π thank you once more for reading, my dear friend. Happy holidays!
Beautiful haiku, moving words.
