The Lifeboat that Saved the World by Irving Finkel
What book are you reading right now?
Right now I’m reading the amazing story book‘The Lifeboat that Saved the World by author and living legend, Irving Finkel .
Charmed by the originality, simplicity and creativity of the author, I bought his book at the ZeeJLF 2019 held in the British Library,London,UK.
It was such a big honor to meet him in person, to chat with him and to exchange ideas about writing books. Irving Finkel autographed my copy and I told him with an iota of pride that I was an author too. Adding that a catalogue record of my book The Princess and the Crow is available from the British Library too!
We congratulated each other.
Now that I am working on a new children’s book, I have picked up the book of Finkel again to draw inspiration from his invaluable work.
From carved stones to modern, beautiful calligraphy , writing is one of the miraculous achievements of the world.
The best thing that you can do is to write children’s books ’ Irving Finkel

Time is Precious
Do you need time?
Time is finite and precious.
Growing old I have suddenly realized that I have little time to live. This realization has helped me make the right choices for my family.
A working mother, I have spent little time with my children at home. I remember coming back after an official visit abroad to see my third son had become taller than me!
There are so many more instances of their growing up and leaving for overseas to pursue further studies that I had missed.
How to make up for the time gone?
Fortunately, I have one grandson who lives with his mom and dad nearby and I see him often but not enough.
I need time to love the people I love.

My son Krsna
Describe a family member.
Krsna is born under the zodiac sign ♌️
He is too handsome to be humble.
Since early childhood he cherished the dream of becoming a diver and an underwater photographer. However,after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree at King’s College,London, he pursued his studies in accountancy and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
He joined his father’s account and auditor’s firm for a year and left to realize his dream and passion.
Now an experienced deep sea diver, photographer and instructor, he revels in the underwater world and its secrets.
You have to dream before your dreams can come true.” — A. P. J.Abdul Kalam.

My Career Path
What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?
I have never considered or even thought of an alternative career. I have chosen the right career path and I am proud to be a Barrister at Law.
The career path one chooses at an early age is always the best one. One needs to persevere and to gain experience to better oneself.
Once you are mature and ripe, many venues will be open to you specially when you have chosen a professional career.
A barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, I was delegated by the Republic of Mauritius to attend sessions at The Hague Conference on Private International Law at The Hague for the drafting of the Convention of 1993 (from 1989 to 1993).
The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) is a global inter-governmental organisation. A melting pot of different legal traditions, it develops and services multilateral legal instruments, which respond to global needs.
The Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (HCCH 1993 Adoption Convention) protects children and their families against the risks of illegal, irregular, premature or ill-prepared adoptions abroad.
I was invited by the Secretary of The Hague to sign the Final Act of the Convention for my contribution- a landmark in my career.

Leaves – Haikus – Poems by Anita Bacha
Splendor of the Fall
Tiny boats floating lively –
In the silent pool
A sad fallen leaf
Aware that life is finite –
Curbs her soaring self
Autumn Equinox
Leaves shudder under the breeze –
Embracing the change
Autumn leaves
From green to amber red –
Waiting to fall

Many thanks for your visit,my dear friends!

Major Historical Event
What major historical events do you remember?
There are so many historical events that I remember since I am born in the island of Mauritius which was then an underdeveloped country. Mauritius was first occupied by the French and was then known as Ile de France in September 1715.
They lost the island in a battle with the British.
By 1814,the island was occupied by Great Britain and renamed Mauritius 🇲🇺.
In 1968,I traveled to London with my British Passport to study Law in Lincoln’s Inn. In December, my father sent me a telegram to announce that Mauritius had won its independence and that the British rule was over.
I cried tears of joy.

Frankfurter Buchmesse- A Poem by Anita Bacha
Par excellence , a major travel destination,
Frankfurt entices the biggest books celebration;
The content literary oriented will find displayed,
Poetry,classics,horror on shelves neatly
arranged;
My flight on British Airways was booked,
A voracious bookworm was hooked;
I have to make it to Frankfurt Buchmesse;
I hazily jump out of bed, rush … rush,
The alarm of my IPhone rings too late,
I am in the kitchen sipping hot chocolate,
Half asleep in my pyjamas, on the toilet seat,
I compose and send an illustrated tweet;
Shampoo and body wash under the hot shower,
Up the stairs I climb to switch off the timer;
So many little but significant things to remember,
When leaving home deserted,mid- October;
A brand new fire linen, voile, white shirt,
A stylish,pleated black cotton skirt;
Colorful leg warmers and thermal socks,
Ouch! the thermal pants pinch my buttocks;
I have radiant, energetic, youthful looks,
I am totally and absolutely obsessed with books;
Trendy in knee high, leather boots,
Matching jacket and a satchel of books;
I drive with zeal to Heathrow Terminal 5,
My mind set on catching the early morning flight.
