A Leaf of Your Tree – A Poem by Anita Bacha

Of your tree so mighty,

I am a leaf so green and tiny;

Neither an apple nor a fig,

I hold on to a twig;

In winter I shiver and I freeze,

In summer I sway in the breeze;

Drenched in torrential rain,

I cry in grief and in pain;

Scalded in the burning sun,

I shrivel and I shun;

A creeper I long to mime,

My arms enlacing you;

Heavenly heights to climb,

My soul enrobing you.

If I were a flower- A Poem by Anita Bacha

If I were a flower

If I were a flower for the joy of being a flower

A leaf for being a leaf

If I were a stem

If I were a leaf and a stem to dress up a flower

If I were a flower that you will place on your heart

If I were all sleek and purple petals

Petals to cover the nudity of a flower

If I were a flower that you will place on your heart

If I were the eyelids for the delight of being the eyelids

The lashes for being the lashes

If I were the eyes

If I were the eyelids and the lashes to cover your eyes

If I were a tear

A tear running down a cheek

A tear that loses itself in the lips

If I were the lips that caress a flower

If I were the lips and you were a flower…

Sega Dance

Intoxicated with the elixir of love,
My head spins with the fiery beats of the tropical drums,
As my body swirls and whirls with the rhythmic vibes;
The burning sand scorching the sole of my feet,
And I dance and I dance in ecstasy!
Imbued with passion, my heart flies high above,
Like a shooting star in broad day light,
Falls back in the blue lagoon with candid delight
And I dance and I dance in ecstasy!
Shrouded in a mist of mirage,
In the horizon I see your image.
In frantic folly I run to tenderly hold you…
The mystic drums stop me,
The enchanting melody beckons me,
Lifts me up and invigorates me,
Fills my soul with bursting fantasy
And I dance and I dance in ecstasy!

SOUL POETRY

SOUL POETRY -Inspirational Poems, Verses and Quotes is a collection of poems, verses and quotes which driven by wild waves of inspiration I wrote over the past five years. I am not a full time writer or poet. I only write when I am inspired and words start to flow from my pen like drops of nectar on a starve parchment.

The main subject of my poetry, my verses and quotes is Love. Here, I must tell my readers to appreciate that there is only One Love whether it is maternal love, physical love, obsessive love, infatuation or spiritual love to name a few. My book also covers different aspects of human relationships, and different themes from flowers to butterflies. Being a woman, when I write about a lover, I am writing about a man. So you will find a few poems very audacious. I have never found it challenging to write love poems about men. They deserve to be admired and their charms must be carved on paper and for eternity, recognizing that the body is mere rust and dust; the soul is eternal. Behind my every poem, there lies a story.

Celebrating Mother’s Day – Footprints -A Poem by Anita Bacha

Happy Mother’s Day!
Sharing a poem dedicated to my mother who passed at the age of 42 after a long illness of innumerable years.

FOOTPRINTS

She was walking on the beach
A long skirt hiding her knees
Dotted with tiny blue florets
A white linen blouse flattened her bosom
Prude,
She never wore a bathing suit

Immaculate as the sunset
Pretty as a picture
Mysterious as the sea
Smiling to herself
Poetic, in love, sweet,
A dreamer
She fell in love only once
People said
The blessed day was her wedding day

A long trail of foot steps
She left
Printed in the moist sand
In joyous innocence
Behind her I walked
Placing my steps
One by one in her wake
She was the apple of my eye!
She was my mother! She is my inspiration!

London Book Fair

Going down High Street,Olympia,
My heart overflows with nostalgia;
On tree tops, I behold,
Blossoms of green and gold;
At the London Book Fair,
Writers and poets fare;
In the pages of each book,
I delve and I look,
Your name is engraved,
By the invisible hand of God.

Sad to learn that the world greatest book event, the London Book Fair 2020 is cancelled. I have been visiting the fair stoically for the last five years to exhibit my poetry book and this is where I met the publisher of my debut children’s book The Princess and the Crow in 2016. I was craving to see my book on the shelves of Austin Macauley London. As we say in French ‘l’homme propose, Dieu dispose!’ I, however, salute the decision of the Reeds Exhibition to cancel the event.Better safe than sorry. I look forward to the London Book Fair 2021 with added zeal and ‘ si Dieu le veut’ with a brand new book.

Your Voice

Your voice is an eternal song,

Your voice lulls me to sleep,

Your voice calls me to dream,

Your voice brings tears to my eyes,

Your voice makes me smile,

Your voice seduces my mind,

Your voice unleashes my needs,

Your voice arouses my passion,

Your voice fills up my senses,

Your voice touches my soul,

Your voice is all I heed.
